Kung nanonood kayo ng Euronews siguro nakita na rin ninyo yong feature nila regarding an exhibit going on somewhere in Paris. Based from the footages shown, everything on the exhibit was designed to give the children education and awareness about sex. Meron pang mga drawings identifying the private organs ng isang lalake at isang babae, thus teaching them the function of each organs.
Ang pinaka-kwela, may isang corner where two dummies – the figures of a guy and a girl – teaches the art of kissing. In this case, French kissing dahil talagang may tongue na lumalabas doon sa mga robots!
At ang mga attendees nong exhibit? Children as young as 7 or 8 years old yata yon. And boy, were they having a blast doon sa kissing machine!
Natatawa lang akong panoorin sila. But come to think of it, ang aga ng kanilang learning pagdating sa ganitong bagay. Not the birds and the bees, mind you, but real, straightforward sex.
Kahit sa ibang bagay, everything in life for that matter, ay maaga silang binibigyan ng exposure. A radical way of teaching the kids what life really is all about.
Which somehow takes away the joy of being a kid. Para sa akin, masarap pa rin na sa edad na 7 years old, ang iniisip mo lang ay maglaro with your friends. Get dirty from playing outside and come into the house smelling like sukang paumbong. Cry from bad dreams, get a toothache from too much candy and jump from excitement when getting presents. Simple. Inosente. Walang complications, walang hassle.
One is sex. Kaya bago pa sila lumaki, they view it just as ordinary as playing with Lego. They lose their virginity even before they can properly spell it.
Because the sooner the kid is prepared to face the real world, the better.
Fortunately, sa kultura natin, this is one thing we still haven’t let go. A kid is still a kid and not expected to be something else. We still believe in a gradual, somewhat controlled, system of teaching the kids what is life and how to live it. Thus giving them the chance to enjoy every phase of their life from childhood to teen years hanggang umalagwa na sila into being full-pledged adults.
Pagdating sa bagay na ito, I still believe this is the best way to raise a child. Call me conservative if you want. But French kiss for a 7-year old is still way too radical for me.
