Still on the same flight from Dubai to Manila, sunod kong pinanood itong The Pursuit of Happyness after Dreamgirls. Ito ang kahit antok na antok na ako during the flight, hindi ko matulugan. Habang inaa-log-alog ang eroplano ng loadstones over the indian continent, this movie was shaking and stirring my emotions. Buti na lang madilim na sa plane, the tears welling up my eyes weren’t so obvious.Who would’ve thought that Will Smith – the star of forgettables like Wild Wild West and Men in Black – could pull up such a magnificent performance like that! I don’t know about the other Oscar nominees pero para sa akin, Will should’ve ran away with the golden statuette this year.
His depiction of a devoted, loving father struggling to find his place under the sun is so moving. And his eventual success should inspire down-trodden people, lift their spirits and give them hope that in life, you can walk the streets even if you lost half of your shoe and still come out a winner.
What more, ito dapat ang kauna-unahang father-and-son tandem to win the lead actor and supporting actor categories! Ang cute ng anak ni Will and most of all, magaling ang bata. His charms were natural and so is his acting talent! Together the two of them touched my heart in a movie that is so inspiring and uplifting!
I normally write kilometric comments regarding a movie. But this one, hindi na kailangan. Just a few words - touching, inspiring, true and magnificent. Siguro naman you got it by now - i'm recommending this, very highly!
