the next madonna
another filipina is currently making our country proud. she's madonna decena, a pinay in the united kingdom whose audition at the show britain's got talent is now one big hit in youtube. she sang whitney's i'll always love you and despite the fact that her version is less powerful than the original, she made the song her very own with her sultry voice and an obviously seasoned style.
.
and despite simon commenting about her movements which, according to him 'must have been acquired from singing in some clubs', the ruthlessly blatant judge can't help but say yes to madonna. he even said he loved it (the audition) which is something rarely heard from mr. grouch himself.
.
of course the lovely amanda holden who's made it a regular stint to cry on anything that touches her obviously soft heart didn't disappoint me and piers was unusually pleasant being the first to say yes among the three. but it's the gallery's response to madonna's performance that touched me the most. they gave her a standing ovation! that's something really.... wow! goosebumps!
.
just search for her name in youtube and see for yourself how this angelu de leon look-alike can touch your heart too. yes, she's got a sob story just like anybody else but hey, the lady can sing. she's got talent. and that's what the show is about.

i might be one of the last to see charice pempengco's stint in the ellen show. i've been reading about her for a couple of months now and how she wowed viewers of ellen. i didn't really bothered looking her up on youtube. but don't get me wrong- i was happy for her making a name in the international scene. i just feel like i didn't have to prove to myself that she's good. i have faith in her even if i've yet to see her.

but what made me itch to see some validation is when i read that she's gonna be featured in oprah's the world smartest kids. a show all about talented kids to be aired sometime next month. well, ellen is something. but the big o??? that's major.

so i hit youtube and there she was, a 15-year old girl somewhere in the crossroads of being a girl and a woman belting her heart out in a hair-raising rendition of another favorite piece for singers who wanna make a name to themselves - and i am telling you. and oh yeah, i was right trusting her even before seeing her. this girl's great. what else can i say? she's pinay for heaven's sakes!

arnel's journey
arnel's journey
and of course there's arnel pineda who's now making an album with the journey and preparing to launch their worldwide tour sometime later this year. the first time i saw him in youtube, i thought his face is just being flashed while the original journey song is being played. heck, how'd i know that that brown flat-nosed pinoy sounded as good as the original journey lead!!!??? he instantly grew gigantic and made me a believer!
there you go. 3 talented singers currently making waves in the international music scene. it would have been 4 if ramiel didn't get the boot from american idol. but hey, three's a charm so i think madonna, charice and ariel's gonna be somewhere in the billboard charts anytime soon. go pinoys! we're sooooooo proud of you!!!!

There is another pinoy in Britain Got Talent (mom is from Cebu/ dad is British) who is way more impressive than Madonna. He is only 10 years old but got a standing ovation from the audience. His name is CHARLIE GREEN and he sings, dances, play the piano, guitar, and even the flute. Here is a link to his performance:

Oh yeah, this boy's a superstar. given the right break, he's gonna make it big. the only problem i had is the genre of his music... jazz is a bit odd for a boy his age unless he's got some pop aces up his sleeves. nevertheless, i'm proud of him too. either madonna or charlie makes it to the finals will be something we should all be proud of.
